Welcome To Saint Bernard’s CYO Basketball
Over 1000 boys and girls play throughout the year in our basketball program — it’s been in existence for over 50 years! There are programs at different times of the year for children from second grade to seniors in high school. There are intramural teams in which players at all skill levels learn the finer points of the game. There are also travel teams, playing in the CYO Travel Basketball..
What is the “C” in our CYO basketball program?
C stands for Catholic, and although our program membership is not limited to Catholics or parishioners of St. Bernard’s,
we do say the pledge of allegiance and a prayer before each game.
Our teams are invited to come to church for a blessing during their season of play. This is arranged by each of the coaches with the parents and the parish so that the young people are blessed at a weekend Mass. Masses at Saint Bernard’s are on Saturday at 5pm; Sundays at 7:30am, 9am, 10:30am, 12noon and 5:30pm.
Our coaches volunteer their time and are caring and careful to respect both the ability and potential of each player. We ask that they strive to show a Christian attitude that is encouraging and helpful.
Parents attending games are asked to show a Christian attitude of support and affirmation for all the players, coaches and referees, no matter what side they are playing for. Negative talk and side-line bullying should never be part of the game. All players, parents and coaches are asked to uphold the code of conduct they agree to when registering. This code of conduct also goes for guests visiting.
If you are a new visitor to our website and wish to enroll your son or daughter for basketball, you should go to our portal to create a new profile. Once you have created your new profile on our site you’ll be able to register your child in the PARENT CORNER. Have fun, and we look forward to seeing your child on the court!
